KCA DeSoto student organizations are designed to encourage students to explore their interests and promote responsibility and student leadership. New organizations form each year as students’ interests emerge.
Students expand on the foundational art concepts learned in art class and develop a deeper appreciation for artistic expression. Art Club explores art history and incorporates hands-on experiences. Students are taught to embrace creativity and are given the opportunity to showcase their work on campus and in local art exhibits.
Students compose persuasive position essays, formulate and pass resolutions, speak in public, develop parliamentary tactics and caucuses. Our debate team competes in national conferences hosted by Georgetown University, The University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Texas.
TAS is responsible for planning and executing high school parties, dances, pep rallies, coffeehouses, movie nights, prom, fundraising and other events.
Members are stewards of our academic commitment to the Principles of Honor that govern students’ behavior both inside the classroom and around campus. Members are committed to pursuing excellence in every area of life.
Acceptance is based on scholarship, leadership, character and community service. NHS members partner with Habitat for Humanity on volunteer projects and lead a peer-tutoring program to help students excel academically.
The Multi-Cultural Club is designed for students to dive deeper into foreign cultures and explore social norms and customs. Students celebrate cultural traditions, watch critically acclaimed films and prepare exotic dishes.
Equipped with state-of-the-art software, students create yearbook themes and designs fitting for the school year. Members learn and perfect the following skill set: Interview, Writing techniques, Photography, Sales, Marketing strategies, Team management. Students compile design work into a professional portfolio that will serve as an effective tool for future job interviews.
Canterbury welcomes families to participate in our Before and After School Program for students enrolled in pre-kindergarten – Grade 8.
Students enrolled in the Before School Program are given the opportunity to quietly visit with friends, eat breakfast, read and comfortably transition into the start of their school day.
Our after-school enrichment program offers students the opportunity to have fun and pursue their passions in areas of interests in a safe Christian environment after-school. Your child will participate in a variety of after-school activities that will hold them accountable to complete their schoolwork and encourage them to explore their passions and build their skill set.
Although Canterbury will be closed during school holidays, our After School Program stays open for parents who do not have the workday off.
During school holidays, we plan fieldtrips and educational activities to provide students with culturally enriched experiences.
Students enrolled in Canterbury’s Elementary and Middle School programs are eligible to participate in the After School Program (ASP).
Once availability is confirmed, you will receive registration instructions and payment options from our After School Program.

At Canterbury, we are committed to empowering students in their moral understanding and awareness of values and viewpoints beyond themselves. Students are expected to be outstanding citizens by serving in our local community.
In Middle School, students begin to take a more independent approach to service. Students participate in the following service opportunities:

Make student donations
Tutor and mentor elementary students
High School Cougars are required to complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to the following:
Volunteer at Charleton Methodist Hospital
Serve with Habitat to Humanity
International mission trip
Canterbury’s Summer Reading List is incorporated into the curriculum to prepare students for studies in Humanities. Each student is expected to read all selections for their anticipated grade level to be equipped for classwork in the fall.
